QR code as a tool to manage and control a production plant.
There are several tools that manage and control an automated plant, from the same screen that manages a machine to a complex plant ERP control. In this article we are going to tell you about an application for opertation management by QR codes.
How QR codes work
Everyone knows how the QR code works, a photo reader scans the code and redirects to a URL, but few people know how many types of code and the functionalities of each one. There are basically two types of code: static and dynamic. Static codes encode the content within the QR code itself, which means that it cannot be modified once it is configured. On the other hand, the dynamic ones are configured to link them to a short URL that redirects to the content you choose, being able to update or modify its content as many times as you want without having to configure the QR code each time.
How do we use it in industrial automation?
The QR codes of each system allow the user to know the information, manage and control the data of each desired equipment, creating a tracking record.
Each automatic equipment is identified by a QR code in the customer’s plant. The person responsible for managing the plant scans the QR code and accesses a web portal where they can find documents (manuals, diagrams, plans, maintenance plans, etc.), incidents that have occurred with the equipment in question, in real time.

✅ Storage of manuals and documents in the cloud. By having all the documents in the cloud, there is no need to store manuals and diagrams in the electrical cabinet. Much more convenient and practical.
✅ Equipment tracking. System data is automatically sent to the cloud. The user can visualise and monitor it instantly.
✅ Ease of access to restricted data. The user has access to all the equipment’s data. All information can be secured with a password.
✅ Rapid search for resources. With a single click, all the information of the system is available.
Now you know how we can use the QR code to control and manage all the resources of a production plant.
